Frequently Ask Questions

Why should I choose products from Sauna Elite?

Sauna Elite acquires its saunas and accessories directly from Finland.  Since Finland is the birthplace of saunas, you are purchasing the very best and highest quality product.  Furthermore, these Finnish saunas incorporate the three essential elements of saunas, namely heat, steam, and proper ventilation.  Additionally, our Finland supplier conducts business in over 50 countries and has been in business for over 50 years.

Who will install the sauna?

The pre-fab and pre-cut units are designed for self-assembly.  Minimum carpentry skills are necessary as excellent instructions are provided.  Installing a large home unit averages about 4 hours with two installers.  If customers are reluctant to install, we will provide professional installers at an additional charge.  Installing custom designed saunas will be our responsibility.

What additional charge is expected in acquiring a sauna?

The sauna heaters and lighting are designed for 220V connections.  You will need electrical connection to facilitate 220V.  An electrician can be consulted.  Besides the electrical work, you will need appropriate flooring for pre-existing carpeted floors.  This flooring can be cement/concrete, tile, vinyl, or even plywood covered with vinyl as long as it is incompressible, waterproof, and level.  These materials can be cut to conform to the shape of the sauna unit.  Customers are also expected to pay shipping and handling fees.

How is a sauna different from other baths such as a spa, whirlpool, etc.?

A sauna unit is an enclosed, insulated structure that is constructed of dehydrated woods that will absorb moisture.  A heater, packed with special stones is used to generate heat and steam.  A cupful of water is pour over the hot stones to generated immediate steam which aids in perspiration.  This heat and steam maintains humidity between 40-60% and temperature between 140-180 degrees Celsius.

Are stones necessary for the proper function of a sauna?

Yes.  These stones absorb and hold the heat.  Consequently, steam is readily generated as water is poured over the hot stones.  With proper steam, one will perspire and cleansing process will be activated.

Is it necessary to change the stones?

Usage of the sauna twice per week will necessitate annual replacement of the stones.
